SCHOLARSHIPS
The
School of HRT offers the following scholarships.
Qualifications vary from scholarship to scholarship, some are
based on academics, some on involvement/leadership, and some on specific
interest. The School encourages
everyone to apply for the
scholarships offered. There
are many available for students at all levels.
PROFESSIONAL CONVENTION MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION (PCMA)
Annual Meeting; The New Orleans Metropolitan Convention and
Visitors Bureau offers to sponsor two students on an all expense paid trip to
their annual meeting. The students
chosen to attend this conference become part of the CVB team and work with their
representatives in conducting conference business.
THE ARTHUR J. PACKARD MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
COMPETITION; Each applicant must be enrolled as a full-time
undergraduate in a hospitality-related degree-granting program approved by the
Foundation. Student must be a
sophomore or junior at the time of application to receive the scholarship during
junior year; have a minimum of a 3.5 overall GPA; and
must be a U.S. citizen or a permanent U.S. resident. The competition will
be based on a combination of the student=s academic performance, hospitality
work experience, financial need, extracurricular involvement, and personal
attributes.
THE HYATT HOTELS FUND FOR MINORITY LODGING
MANAGEMENT STUDENTS; Each applicant must be enrolled as a
full-time undergraduate in a four-year hospitality-related, degree-granting
program that is a member of CHRIE. Student
must be a sophomore or junior at the time of application to receive the
scholarship during junior or senior year, applicant must be a U.S. citizen or a
permanent U.S. resident. This
competition is open to minority students: African American, Hispanic, American
Indian or Alaskan Native, and Asian and Pacific Islander.
The
competition will be based on a combination of the student's academic
performance, hospitality work experience, financial need, extracurricular
involvement, and personal attributes.
THE
AMERICAN EXPRESS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM; To be eligible, applicants
must meet the following requirements: be actively employed (at least 20 hours
per week) at a hotel or motel that is a member of AH&MA at the time of
application and have a minimum of 12 months= employment in a hotel; or be the
dependent of an employee who meets the previous requirement and have past
employment in some capacity in the hospitality industry.
In addition, those applying for academic scholarships must be enrolled or
be planning to enroll as an undergraduate in a hospitality management program
offered by a university or college.
ECOLAB SCHOLARSHIP
PROGRAM; Applicants must meet the
following requirement: be enrolled or intend to be enrolled full time (at least
12 hours) in a U.S. baccalaureate or associate hospitality degree-granting
program for both the upcoming fall and spring semesters
