Master of Science in Hospitality and Tourism Management

This degree program prepares students for professional careers in both the private and public sectors of global tourism. Emphasis is placed on the development of:

  • Problem solving
  • Decision-making abilities
  • Change management
  • Leadership and strategy
  • Research skills

The Master of Science in HRT will provide an opportunity for students of different backgrounds to obtain postgraduate qualifications in the world's fastest growing industry, hospitality and tourism. The program is specifically tailored for:

  • Students with an undergraduate program in HRT or equivalent
  • Students with a non-HRT undergraduate program that now wish to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the industry (a conversion course is included)
  • Supervisors and middle managers in the industry that wish to upgrade their skills and enhance their career prospects

The program has been designed as a 30 credit professional program that provides flexibility of access to the above mentioned groups. Options within the program allow students to take an MBA elective and a research emphasis with an expanded thesis component. This expanded research component would provide the basis for those wishing to study for a terminal degree.

This degree program will also feature an Internship Course for all students, which will allow them to undertake a critical analysis of current situations in the hotel, restaurant and tourism industry. For supervisors and middle managers this course will allow them to examine important aspects of their own
