COLLEGE OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION GOALS To implement the mission and vision statements, the Strategic Planning Committee identified eight goals and several objectives for each goal. The eight undergraduate and six graduate programs in the College share the same overall goals and objectives to a large degree. Goal: Offer academic programs that prepare students for the rigors of the business world Increase participation in internship programs by 15% Increase use of outside speakers in the classroom Hire faculty with real business experience (e.g., professionally qualified adjunct faculty and full-time faculty that have business experience) Goal: Offer academic programs that are consistent with the current and future needs of the local, regional, and global business communities Use employer and alumni surveys to develop new programs that meet the need of our local, regional and global communities (e.g., undergraduate entrepreneurship curriculum, MS Health Care Management, MS Engineering Management) Establish cooperative programs with universities in other countries (e.g., undergraduate programs in Ecuador, France and EMBA in Jamaica) Establish additional advisory groups for some departments Goal: Offer academic programs that are convenient, affordable and of high quality Improve/maintain high convenience ratings on student surveys Maintain the number of courses/degree programs offered in the evening Make the MBA program available to daytime students Use EBI and alumni survey data along with other measures to monitor perceived quality of business programs Maintain high/increase pass rates on relevant professional exams (e.g., CPA exam) Goal: Provide those services that benefit our students, our graduates, and the local, regional and global communities of our stakeholders Support faculty participation in training sessions (new techniques, continuing education in their field) and conferences to enhance business teaching and developing new areas of expertise Create and annually present "Teacher of the Year" and "Professor of the Year" awards for the College Use merit pay system to encourage delivery of business education Goal: Encourage and support faculty to pursue activities that enhance the delivery of business education Increase funding for faculty travel to professional conferences to present research papers and to participate on research panels Create and annually present "Researcher of the Year" and "Professor of the Year" awards for the College Provide course releases to active research faculty Use merit pay system to encourage intellectual contributions by all faculty members Goal: Provide intellectual contributions that benefit our students and graduates, and the academic and professional communities Utilize the applied business research centers of the College (Division of Business and Economic Research, Real Estate Market Data Center, Center for Economic Development, International Trade Center, Small Business Development Center) to provide services to the local business community Provide professional development opportunities for the local/regional business community Support faculty in their roles in professional organizations Support faculty in their service roles in the business community Goal: Provide technology necessary for faculty to perform research and prepare students to pursue successful careers in business Use UAACSB survey by UCLA results to determine best-practice software and databases Provide 100% of faculty networked computers with best-practice software and databases Provide 100% of faculty with pentium computers Network classrooms in the College to provide support for multi-media presentations Increase use of e-mail and blackboard software Goal: Serve a diverse educational community Recruit qualified faculty of diverse ethnic backgrounds Use CAFS program to improve retention of minority students Increase number of international students in undergraduate and graduate programs Increase number of minority students at all levels Mission Statement Vision Statement |
