He received his PhD in Strategic Management and International Business from the Rutgers University. He holds an MBA and B.S. in Chemical Engineering, also from Rutgers University. Dr. Smith’s teaching interests include strategic management, international management and music and entertainment business. His current research examines career dynamics and labor market processes in the science and engineering, health care, and library and information science labor markets. His research has recently been published in journals such as College & Research Libraries and the Journal of Management and Information Science. Dr. Smith also has extensive corporate and consulting experience. He worked as a product development engineer for Procter & Gamble in their Paper Products Division, and held a number of technical and management positions at PepsiCo, Inc. Also, as a consultant with PA Consulting Group of London and BTS Group of New York, Dr. Smith has provided business advisory services to firms as diverse as AT&T, Sony Corporation, Humana, Schroeder Bank of London, and Federated Department Stores. He is also active in the music industry. He serves on the board of directors of two firms and has worked with a number of new and established artists and businesses. When not teaching, doing research or consulting, he enjoys running, traveling and advocating for healthy living and general wellness. Dr. Smith is a native of the New York area.
